Beyond the books of scholars and official documents, there are other sources for discovering history -- sources which reveal history as experienced directly by the people who lived it. It is the personal letters and diary entries of past generations that today provide the content for Peg Meier's book Bring Warm Clothes, and shape KTCA's TV documentary.

To give it structure, producer Barbara Wiener has organized the program into several loosely defined "eras" of Minnesota history. Think of it as a supplement to Minnesota's family scrapbook. Clearly history itself is less tidy.
